World Cocktail Day has got to be one of our favourite “holidays”, because what better way to ease into summer than a gin cocktail or 3 with good pals!

This global celebration of cocktails falls every year on the 13th May and luckily for us, this year it’s on a Friday, a perfect day for cocktail making! In this article we’ll be revealing some easy gin cocktail recipes that you can make at home to celebrate World Cocktail Day. As summer approaches, give these gin cocktails a go for the perfect refreshing treat to enjoy with friends.

 

Rhubarb & Raspberry

This energetic summer cocktail perfectly balances the refreshing citrus of Smugglers Gin with the tartness of rhubarb and raspberry, and its radiant pink hue is reminiscent of elegant summer sunsets. This cocktail is so simple to make at home and it’s absolutely perfect for impressing your friends.

You’ll Need:

50ml Smugglers Gin

Fever Tree Rhubarb & Raspberry Tonic Water to top

Fresh raspberries to garnish

How To Make:

Fill a Hi-Ball glass with ice, add in the Smugglers Gin and top up with Fever Tree Rhubarb & Raspberry. Then garnish with plenty of fresh raspberries. Give it a quick stir with a bar spoon - it really is that easy!

 

Cucumber Spritz

Sweet and lemony citrus flavours come together in this summer gin cocktail, for an intense base flavour that’s mellowed by refreshing cucumber. After all, nothing says summer quite like a cucumber cocktail recipe.

You’ll Need:

50ml Smugglers Gin

25ml lemon juice

5ml sugar syrup

DASH Cucumber Sparkling Water to top

Mint sprig and cucumber slice to garnish

How To Make:

Build the Smugglers Gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup into a wine glass. Fill with ice and stir a few times with a bar spoon. This will chill the drink and slightly dilute the cocktail to combine the ingredients together. Next, top up with DASH Cucumber Sparkling Water and gently garnish with a mint sprig and cucumber slice.

 

Old Sins Southside

When looking for summer cocktails to make at home, a Southside should be high on your list! This recipe uses fruity, floral Old Sins Gin to add a Navy Strength kick to the classic sugary lime cocktail.

You’ll Need:

50ml Old Sins Gin

25ml lime Juice

5ml sugar syrup

8-10 fresh mint leaves plus 1 to garnish

How To Make:

Combine the Old Sins Gin, lime juice, sugar syrup and mint leaves in a cocktail shaker and fill the shaker with ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker turns frosty and double strain your Old Sins Southside into a Nick & Nora cocktail glass. Then add the finishing touch – a fresh mint leaf garnish.

 

Smugglers Strawberry & Basil Smash

Fruity Smash cocktails are absolutely perfect for summer, and the combination of fresh citrus, juicy strawberry and herbaceous basil is just the tonic when the sun’s out. This breezy cocktail is ideal to make at home, since there’s no need for a Smash to be perfect – by definition they’re imperfectly delicious.

You’ll Need:

50ml Smugglers Gin

25ml lemon juice

5ml sugar syrup

4/5 fresh strawberries

8-10 fresh basil leaves

How To Make:

Combine the Smugglers Gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup, strawberries and basil in a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker turns frosty and double strain the cocktail into a rocks glass. Garnish with half a strawberry and a fresh basil leaf for extra flair!
